First words

The smallest of persons is strongly a personality of ones own and the will to express oneself begins even before than the first words are outed. When a child is born into a family or to a friend, it's fun to make them clothes that are especially made and as unique as the their recipient. Touch of the loved ones and a piece of familys life is felt in the clothes.

Once a friend of mine gave me an old worn out (from the after war era) book in which were instructions how to make a school clothes for a boy out of father's old coat and how to make a church dress for a girl out of bed cover. The book inspired me to design child's clothing for the offspring of the new millennium following in it's footsteps.
Thus Juju was born. It holds instructions for making well thought clothes for everyday life, for weekdays and Sundays, for mundane and festive events. Make an apron for a novice artist, gown for a maiden or wings for a fairy. Juju's instructions encourage trying and discovering new things. Accessories and constituents can be found for example at flea markets, fabric stores or even at granny's attic.

How does Juju work?

Juju's schemata come at four sizes: 90, 100, 110 and 120cm. Majority of the clothes are simple and easy to make. Difficult parts have resolved in ways suitable for home seamstress. For example frustrating zippers have been replaced with ties or poppers. Difficulty of the work is told in the beginning of each instruction set. If you're a first timer with the sewing machine you can make a pouch or a washer as an appetizer. Sewing virtuosos can jump directly to large pocketed anorak or create their own versions of the easy basic designs and play with the designs to their heart's content. Different embroidery ideas and models are scattered here and there and in the end of the book there's a small information package of the basics.

Idea of the Juju-style

It's not about sewing alone but a whole new approach to clothing. Clothes get to live a life of their own through the touch of their maker and all of the old laces, ribbons and fabrics bring their interesting stories and histories in the mix. Core of the Juju-style is in applying old crafts and traditional embroidering techniques in a new modern and fun way.

Child finds it exciting to get a story in addition of the cloth. A fairytale is continued in every seam and ribbon. You can embroider a piece of this tale for example in a hem of a shirt and thus it can even be passed on to a generations to come.

Let your imagination take over and plug in the sewing machine. Now you're ready to get going on full throttle.
